トランスヒューマニズムの生命倫理

Bioethics誌の最新号に、James Wilson, "Transhumanism and Moral Equality," Bioethics 21-8(2007)pp.419-425という論文が掲載されている。「エンハンスメントによってがんがん個人の能力を増強できるようになったら、非常に不正な社会がくる」というフランシス・フクヤマらの批判があるがそれは間違っている、という主張をしている。いくら誰かの能力が増強されるようになっても、非増強人間の基本的平等性は守られるようにできるのだから、その意味での道徳的な問題はないのである、という論調のようだ。

If the argument of this paper is correct, no enhancements we coild make to human beings could do anything to undermine the moral status of the unenhanced. Hence, if the project of human enhancement presents us with a moral problem, it cannot be that it will undermine our status as moral equals. (pp.419-420)

著者は、英国の倫理学者。斜め読みの感想だが、えらい浅い議論のように見える。権力とか支配とかの視点はこの種の生命倫理学には入ってこないんでしょうかねえ・・・・。
